Salve!
Thank you to our special guests who gave their time to help during Contra Mestre Bambu’s recovery. Please go out of your way to support and follow these leaders in any way you can:
Spring Changes!
We’ve seen a major uptick in attendance at the academy with the weather is changing and 50% of Americans 18+ having at least 1 vaccination shot. As people are becoming more comfortable, we’re hoping to begin adding to the schedule as well as begin returning to regular training including having RODAS!
Saturday Kids Classes
will be moved back 30 minutes to 1:00 PM and offered both online and in-person effective immediately. You’ll be able to register for these classes right now.
Saturday Adult Classes
will be both offered online and in-person effective immediately. You’ll be able to register for these classes right now.
All Classes
Please make sure you register for classes in advance. We are still under a capacity limit and with the uptick in attendance, we’ve had a couple of close calls on sending someone home due to them not registering. Those who have not registered WILL get turned away if we hit capacity.
We will be attempting to return to more partner drills, line drills, and music rodas which will utilize our space more. We will do our best to have alternative ideas and spacing for those uncomfortable with sharing space.
Below is a link to a survey regarding comfort levels during training. Please fill it out to help us decide how to proceed.
Academy Etiquette Reminders
Drugs and Alcohol Use
Axé Capoeira is a clean environment that encourages healthy living. If you partake in cigarettes, alcohol, and/or marijuana use in your personal life, please do not do so before you attend the academy. While the smell may not be obvious to you, it is to everyone else in the academy. This causes distractions as well as concerns from fellow students/parents. Training while intoxicated is NOT permitted as it is dangerous. You WILL be sent home. We train at a high level and any distraction is an unwelcome one that could lead to accidents and/or injury.
Personal Hygiene
Please take pride in your uniform and personal hygiene. Attend classes in clean uniforms. If you’re training a lot and need extra abada (uniform), we have plenty for sale. Your uniform is a representation of your group and pride in your school.
We have a tight space and only one restroom that we all have to share. Smells can carry and linger. Out of respect for your fellow students, please wash yourself and your uniform regularly.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate.
Thank you everyone for understanding and helping to make the academy a better place. Keep training and welcome to all of our new faces.
Salve and Axé!
